Join us on Avenue Campus for a day shaking up the work of Shakespeare! This event is aimed at school and college groups in Years 10-13.
Join us in person on Avenue Campus for a day exploring and shaking up the work of Shakespeare with our exciting community of English academics, ranked 6th in the UK for research quality.*
The day is a unique opportunity to enrich your English GCSE and A-Level courses with insights provided by Shakespeare experts. You'll gain a fresh perspective on the playwright, his plays and why we should care, and discover what lies just beyond the horizon of your curriculum.
On the day, you'll experience a taster lecture, examining what it actually means to "research" Shakespeare. You'll also participate in two workshops, giving you the chance to discover new details about Shakespeare's world and his writing. Workshop One will focus on the tricks and rewards of close reading, while Workshop Two explores the men, women and children before and beyond Shakespeare who built and shaped the theatre industry.
Lunch is not provided so please bring packed lunches. Alternatively, there is a cafe on campus where lunch can be purchased (NB: we are a cash-free campus and can only accept card payments).
NB: If you are a teacher and are making a group booking for your class, please make sure you book a ticket for each staff and student member you will be bringing.
For state schools and colleges, we can offer a contribution towards the cost of your travel. Please contact us for more information.
We may be able to offer minibus parking (subject to availability) but regretfully cannot accommodate coach parking on our campuses.
